With an old century home the basement space is very difficult to do an office, playroom, kids toy megaplex, workbench area, tinker area etc. This is giving me great ideas.

Gizmodo: The recent Sichuan Earthquake in China was so intense, tremors were felt all the way over in the tallest completed building in the world—the Taipei 101 building in Taiwan—a whole eight minutes after the quake originated. (The title of tallest building period was taken by the Burj Dubai back in May.) What’s interesting about the 101 is that it has a gigantic suspended tuned mass damper, or hanging ball, which takes up four stories and works like this to prevent the building from falling over and tragically crushing office workers. Pictures Don’t Do it Justice. New Terminal in Bejing

This terminal is unbelievable. I walked near this in my most recent trip to China and the shear size and speed in which it was built is incredible. The new Terminal 3 at the airport in Beijing is twice the size of the Pentagon.

Terminal 3 at Beijing International Airport was designed by the British architect Norman Foster.
